Computers Bug Me! Creativity Lesson Plan

This lesson plan is for the beginning of the year as an introduction to the course and concepts.  It is intended to be highly creative while also incorporating computer history, hardware and terminology.   Students will create a product using hardware.   This lesson may be interesting to both boys and girls as it requires disassembly of a CPU but also allows creating an object using artistic expression.

Teacher background reading related to this lesson should include:

CSP - Hardware and Abstraction

Status: Ready to use

Students will learn about the major hardware inside the computer as well as peripherals.  Students will categorize hardware components based on their common level of abstraction.  For example, a video game can use a keyboard, touch screen, joystick or accelerometer are all as input devices that can be used to turn a vehicle. Since technology is constantly changing, student will have to do research for the most up to date components.
