Research Participation Consent

From time to time, the CS10K Community of Practice participates in research projects funded by the U.S. Department of Education or the National Science Foundation. These studies are designed to provide information about how to make this and other online communities of practice more effective for their members. The researchers would analyze this online community in order to address questions such as: (1) Which activities result in the most engagement and interaction? (2) What roles emerge among participants in the community? (3) How do moderators encourage productive online interactions? Your participation in such research projects is voluntary. You have the right to be a part of these studies, to choose not to participate or to stop participating at any time without penalty. You will not receive anything for participating. There are no anticipated risks or benefits by participating in these studies. Raw data from your involvement in the community would be a source of information used in analysis. All community participation data will be kept confidential and stored separately from any identifiable information, all on password-protected computers. What is learned from the research project will be included in reports for the agencies funding the studies. Research reports will NOT contain any information that identifies you. The reports may contain the name of your Project and its leaders.

If you are interested and willing to participate in this research, please select the checkbox next to “Research Participation Consent.” If you do not want to participate in the study, then do not select this checkbox. Please visit and print the Informed Consent Form for your records.
