Encouraging diversity in computer science education

User

NSF recently released a great feature on Joanne McGrath Cohoon's effort to promote diversity in computer science. Through a grant from NSF, Cohoon launched a series of summer programs known as Tapestry Workshops, marketed to high school CS teachers with an interest in attracting and educating more female and minority students. The workshops cover topics, such as recruiting, pedagogy, and evidence-based practices. The article shares Cohoon's perspective on why girls and minorities tend to be underrepresented in computer science, and why this is detrimental to the computing field.
